Little Baby is home safe and sound. The vet said once she cut into the anal gland on the left side there was a huge mass/infection/necrotic tissue she had to take out. The hole/wound back there now is pretty big and nasty, and she is in severe pain. Too gross to show. I've never seen anything like it and I feel so bad for her. I'm to give her antibiotics (Clavamox) every 8 hours, and pain meds (morphine based) every 8 hours at different intervals by syringe. The poor thing is going to keep trying to clean herself, but she won't be able to get to that wound until it is healed. I helped her into her kitty litter box and she urinated right away...but I did the covering up for her. What a trooper she is and is continuously purring! I'm not leaving her side for a week and will keep that area clean. You're a strong kitty, Little Baby, I know you will make it through this!
The vet said she should heal just fine. The only question at this point is other problems that may be going on...cancer. But for now, she said not to worry. The cost for blood tests for cancer, x-rays, etc. can start around $1000 on up, then thousands more for the cancer treatments if she does have cancer. Even if I was rich, I wouldn't put Little Baby through all of those treatments. For a cat that is already around 16 years old, we both agreed that it is best to just let her live the rest of her life as she is, then the inevitable will take its course...sad to say. Of course, I'm the optimist, and say that she doesn't have cancer and will be with us for a few more years to come. So, I'll breathe a sigh of relief, and take care of her the best that I can, until the wound is healed.
I want to thank all of the people on social media that have been sending prayers and well wishes for her recovery.
