House Update

The acid stain on the cement floors are coming out really nice. Unfortunately, in the kitchen because of the old glue that I couldn't get off, the stain wouldn't absorb. We have some leftover wood flooring we will use instead in the kitchen and laundry room.

We had some excitement yesterday. Hubby and his helper Billie were digging out some old bushes along the road and Billie saw something move under the bush, (he was right next to it), and there were 2 rattlesnakes under it! Billie said he jumped back, and they got the rattlesnakes out in the open where hubster chopped their heads and tails off. One was 13 years old, and the other was 4. They were so lucky that they didn't get bit! They urged me to hold them after so they could get a photo of them. lol The big one was about 5 feet long before chopping it up, and the other around 4 feet long. Now we all have the hibby jibbies when we are walking around outside. I took a photo of one of the big scorpions I saw outside yesterday too.

We are also going "green" with our retaining wall in case we have flooding in the future, plus save thousands of dollars. Using old tires, which we can get for free, will certainly keep our property from flooding in the future. The tires will all be kept in place with rebar and dirt, and later on we can either stucco over them or cover them with something else that will look nice. We will be using hundreds of them all around the property! We will also be grading and digging water channels around the property with tractors and backhoes.

Next week I will continue staining the floors, and doing some other little things. All is going well.

Hahaha, Linda! We have been keeping our eyes on the lookout for more rattlesnakes but haven't seen any more, thank goodness!
