I think I'm finished! I'm really happy with the way it turned out! I love the little Victorian girl, she is so pretty! I learned a lot during this process, and I think I'll just hang it in my art studio and look at it for awhile before deciding if I want to sell this first one or not. I may even add some more trimmings to it, not sure yet. Right now, I'm just going to leave it alone. Do I want to make more of these? Absolutely! The ideas and different ways can be endless and they can be made with all of your leftover scraps and bits that you don't know what to do with. I plan on making more in the future, that's for sure! Time-consuming, yes, but well worth the effort!
Victorian families were really the first scrappers. By reading about the history of Victorian ornaments, I found out they had large drawers full of Victorian images they would cut out to use for decorations. It was a family event, where they would all sit around a big table, cutting out images, getting their tinsel and findings out, and just creating! The more ornate and over the top the better! The Victorian era was all about ornate designs, not only in their clothing, but their houses, furniture, jewelry, etc. I would have loved to have been there during Christmas time, but it is a tradition that can still be carried on with our families today.
So, anyway, I hope you like my first hot air balloon ornament, and if you were following along, I hope there were some tips for those of you that may want to try one, too! Create & have fun!
