Peyton's Eyes

1/11/2012

_I always say that the eyes are the most important part of each portrait I paint. It took years of practice to learn how to paint them, and I still learn something new each time I do.

After studying photos of Peyton's eyes, I saw gold, orange, green, white, yellow, and a hint of brown. I started with a yellow base color and layered the other colors on top until the colors were achieved. The two little highlight dots on the sides of each pupil finish the eyes. Now the portrait has come alive with Peyton's personality.

That's all I'm going to get done today. I may be able to work on him in the morning for a bit, but the rest of the day I will be out of the studio. I have another Chiropractic appointment and am going to visit my in-laws. Still lots to do before I'm done, so Friday I will be able to finish up. Cya then.
