It's Thursday, and time to start on the next commission.
This will be a memorial slate piece for a very special dog named ILOX. ILOX was a tough, beloved, K-9 police dog for the Philomath Police Department in Oregon and will be missed by the entire community and his family. Jessica, my customer, wants me to paint ILOX for her husband as a gift for Christmas. Her husband is the Police Officer who lost his best partner and companion on April 21, 2011.
Here is the layout Jessica decided on and some photos of ILOX and his partner. What a beautiful, intelligent, and greatly missed dog.
The first thing that I will do is sketch ILOX in pencil on the slate to get the placing and proportions right. His badge and dates to the right will be started after ILOX is painted.
