I hope everyone had a great New Year's Eve! I got a lot of things done around the house with my time off, but also got some bad news about my neck. I have been diagnosed with cervical kyphosis also known as "Military Neck." The condition causes chronic neck, shoulder, and back pain. My x-rays show that I have no curve at all in my neck, where a normal neck would have from a 35 degree to 40 degree curve. Mine is straight as a stick! This condition started up to 10-20 years ago if not in childhood. I have been a tomboy all of my life and have always lifted heavy things from a very young age on the farm until now...plus I've painted over 30 houses inside and out over the years which certainly is part of the cause. So, I have been given physical therapy excercises to do at home, but this condition will take years and years to correct if at all and I have to be really careful not to lift heavy things anymore and not look down for long periods of time.
So this year I'm going to have to make a lot of changes! My Dr. really doesn't want me to paint rocks anymore, but he also knows that I'm not going to give it up. lol I respect his opinion and will make some major changes in my life. I will not paint as many hours and take days off in between. I've decided also that I won't be blogging each and every day like I did last year, but will show some, but not all of the projects I will be working on throughout the year, as sitting at the computer for long periods of time will be hard on my neck, shoulders, and back, too. So, I'll take it a day at a time, be mindful of my neck, and take lots of breaks and just work slower and see how things go. I will be seeing my Dr. every Thursday for a few more weeks.
We have had such beautiful weather this week...in the mid-seventies! Just gorgeous time to sit on both patios and look at the mountains.
I will be checking back with folks that wanted me to start their commissions in January and February starting tomorrow.
I look forward to getting back to painting! Have a great day!
