Hubby and I had a really nice time with family yesterday. My mother-in-law picked up and dropped off my new art supplies that I ordered, and today I'm going to rearrange my studio for my new stuff! There are going to be some exciting new changes here at RiverRockArt Studio starting next week.
People have been asking for larger alternatives for me to paint on, so I ordered 3 different sizes of canvas panels for larger projects. The sizes of the canvas panels are 9x12 inches, 12x16 inches, and 18x24 inches. I also ordered 25 pounds of air dry clay that I have some ideas for and a desktop easel to paint the canvas on.
I already have a customer that wants a cat portrait on canvas and other people waiting in the wings that I have been networking with for commissions on canvas. These canvas panels can be easily framed by my customers and are high quality and sturdy. I will not be buying/stocking a bunch of frames as everyone has different tastes for what kind of frames they want for the finished paintings in their homes.
I still have to find out shipping costs for the 3 sizes of canvas and need to see what the most cost-effective way to ship will be, as it can be a lot on the larger sizes. I will talk to the Post Office on Monday.
I also need to figure out pet portrait/memorial pricing for the canvas.
So, for the next couple of days I will be setting up my studio for 2 to 3 different painting areas...one area for my rocks and slate paintings, a clay area, and another area for the canvas paintings. I'll be able to put my air brush to work again and will be able to broaden my horizons on all kinds of paintings on canvas...landscapes, etc. If people want larger pet portraits or anything else, they can now. My customers asked for canvas, and I listened! The canvas will be a great addition to my river rock art and slate paintings.
I painted on canvas years ago and frankly I'll paint on just about anything, so it will be fun to paint on it again. So excited!
